CO Dissociation on model Co/SiO2 catalysts – effect of adsorbed hydrogen

We found experimental evidence that shows the effect adsorbed hydrogen can have on CO dissociation. For cobalt nanoparticles supported SiO2, enhances In contrast, inhibits dissociation a film SiO2. Considering nature of deposited by physical vapor deposition, these results be explained preference for to follow hydrogen-assisted mechanism FCC and step-edges, while direct is preferred HCP cobalt. These are in agreement with previous theoretical results.
